Read to Grow: Reading Skills Program

The Reading Skills Program makes reading fun and easy by developing your child’s comprehension and phonics skills. This program is designed for teaching first-time readers and for accelerating beginner readers to an intermediate level. Reading skills, imagination, dedication, and achievement are developed as children build their learning skills and develop self-esteem and confidence.

The Reading Skills Program achieves this by teaching letter sounds and letter formation. With this knowledge each student is taken through stages of blending sounds together to form words and then on to reading. At the same time, students are taught to write and spell by listening for sounds in spoken words and identify the letters corresponding to those sounds. The program will also include individual assessment, a broad range of activities, storytelling and journaling.

The primary focus of using phonics instruction in our Reading Skills Program is to help beginning readers understand how letters are linked to sounds. Phonics instruction will help the student learn to identify spelling patterns and to help them learn how to apply this knowledge in their reading. This method has a proven history of helping readers across all subjects towards better academic success.

Branching Out

Branching Out is a condensed intense program divided by grade and subject. This program encourages students to focus on the core subjects where they scored below expectation and work to achieve better understanding of the content to lay a more solid foundation for the next set of learning in the upcoming year.

This program will also take those students at a more advanced level and allow them the opportunity to continue to develop their skills and continue to advance through the core subject material.High school means crunch time and we work to bridge any existing academic gaps in the core subjects while teaching effective organization and study strategies.

In order to ensure High School Success, each student has unique study needs that they need to develop skills so they can do more to achieve those pre-requisite skills. Some students need help with time management. Other students need help with study tips to effectively take tests. Or other students need help managing advanced coursework as they prepare for college. Regardless of the need, the needs will be addressed in a specific program tailored to each student.
