Benefits Of Hands-on Learning With The Best Robotics Classes For Kids!

admin // December 5 // 0 Comments

Robotics is a relatively new subject in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. Projected to grow rapidly, a robot learning course is a great way to introduce yourself to this field. Robotics classes for kids make it easily accessible and provide an easy learning experience. The hands-on learning aspect benefits the kids and teaches them to think and analyze problems creatively and constructively.

Why Robotics Classes For Students?

Many schools are now introducing robotics classes for students. At OakLearning, our robot learning course has been designed through extensive research emphasizing simplifying complex programming concepts. Our robotic learning course allows students to quickly build robots using various censors and motors, program their robots using programming cards, and download their program to the CPU using a specially designed card reader without the hassle of learning tedious coding language, a fresh and practical approach. All the programming essential logic and concepts are learned and practiced, all in the fun of hands-on making.

Why Undertaking Our Robot Learning Course Is a Great Option?

Robot Learning

Undertaking robot learning course is a scientifically proven way that by working on robotics kits and understanding the coding of robots helps kids develop vital 21st-century skills. In addition to teaching kids’ skills in robotics and coding, robotics classes for students also help build curiosity in children towards STEM education. Blending kids, coding, and robotics exposes young people to these principles in an atmosphere of fun that is conducive to learning. At Oak Learning, our robot learning course can help kids have fun even as they learn advanced technological concepts. Robotics is a fantastic way to make kids understand the power of coding and its applications in the real world.

At OakLearning, we offer 3 different types of robot learning courses based on the various coding concepts involved and the age of students. These include:

  • RoboKit – For students between the ages of 9-13
  • RoboKids – For students between the ages of 6-8
  • UARO – For students between the ages of 4-6

Let’s look at some of the benefits for students undertaking our robot learning course.

1. Hands-on Learning for a Realistic Method of teaching STEM subjects:

Coding robots entail a hands-on approach to learning, in which kids develop their skills through practical application. The exploration and interaction required enable kids to learn from their successes and mistakes. They also know how to pivot to different approaches when their initial strategies are unworkable. Students can use this knowledge to build practical applications and program them to perform specific tasks.

2. Essential skills: Problem-solving, Critical Thinking, Creativity.

Robots captivate a kid’s imagination and transform that feeling into a creative process. The creative process includes brainstorming, experimenting, and troubleshooting to understand the problem and build a solution. Technologies like sensors, motors, etc., allow infinite possibilities when building and programming a robot. It also satisfies the students as they create a working, authentic, and unique product. It will enable learners to exercise their creativity and keep them excited and coming for more.

3. Improved grades and academic performance

academic performance

Robotics helps kids develop an interest in math and science and perform better. A study on Robotics revealed that robots help youth transform abstract science, engineering, and technology (SET) concepts into concrete real-world understanding through hands-on experimentation.

4. Building Cooperation

The process of programming and building a robot is better when it is done in a team setting. The varying perspectives of the students allow for diverse ideas but also come with a feeling of cooperation. Understanding the importance of teamwork and collaboration can help a student in the long run. Implementing your ideas plus incorporating the suggestions of your teammates is essential in any team project.

5. Enhanced Written and Verbal Communication

Formulating ideas and concepts and translating them into coded instructions teaches kids to express themselves succinctly and directly. This, in turn, enhances their self-confidence as they learn they can do things this way. Additionally, the knowledge that they are creating something helpful to others endows them with an enhanced sense of self-worth.

Other Significant Benefits Include:

  • Developing an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Providing a great foundation for college-level coursework
  • Choice of innovative, well-paid careers
  • Becoming a creator, not just a consumer
  • Developing an understanding of the tools you need to navigate a world run by technology and science

Is Previous Robotics Experience Required?

Though it is observed that more and more students in recent years are joining our robotic courses with either some robotics building experience, programming experience, or a combination of both, our RoboKids program does not require any previous experience. During the first couple of classes in each course term, our instructor will go through the fundamentals of robotics, including programming logic, input devices such as IR sensors or contact sensors, and output devices such as motors and LED lights. Students will learn how these input and output devices work together under the control of software programs stored in the CPU.

Wrapping Up:

As we can see Robotics is an exciting and vast field of study. It is emerging as one of the most in-demand skills sets to acquire in the future. Learning coding through robotics gets kids engaged in STEM concepts in a way that builds their confidence and self-esteem. With OakLearning Center robot learning course, kids can familiarize themselves with Robotics, develop unique problem solving abilities and consider pursuing and building a career in it.
