Case Studies: Visible Improvement
After a student finishes a 12-session learning period in around three months, we give the student another AI-based adaptive assessment to gauge the improvement that the student has made in the learning period. The charts below are not the report itself. These are summaries of historical assessment reports to give students, parents, and tutors a snapshot of how the student has been progressing since joining this Advanced Learner's Club.
English Reading
Mark is a student in grade 8. He joined the English and Math Advanced Learner's Club in September 2021. In his first adaptive assessment, he scored 1,106 in the 35th percentile against all grade 8 students in the U.S.A., indicating severe issues in his reading comprehension skills. After nine months, his assessment score improved to 1,168 at the 51st percentile level. Mark gained only 6 points in his first half of study, but he earned 56 points in his second half of study. This is a normal and very common phenomenon. As students continue to build stronger foundations, they become more confident and skillful in learning.
Language Arts
Angeline is a 7th-grade student in the 2021-2022 school year. She joined the English and Math Advanced Learner's Club in September 2021 and has diligently worked on her weekly homework. She meets her tutor at the center every week. In the span of 9 months, she made fantastic improvements in her English writing skills. Her adaptive assessment reports show that her national percentile ranking among all students in the U.S.A. jumped from the 59th percentile to the 95th percentile. She went from being a below-grade student to becoming a top-tier student in English writing in just nine months. Furthermore, she observed much faster improvement in the second half of her learning journey.
Mathematics
Harvey joined the English and Math Advanced Learner's Club in October 2021 when he was in grade 4. Despite starting with a relatively low score of 916 at the 18th percentile in the national ranking, he remained committed to following the learning path created by his tutor. He diligently stuck to his learning schedule and showed exemplary improvement. In just 7 months, his third assessment score increased from 916 to 1,175, placing him at an outstanding 98th percentile in the national ranking. It is common for students in lower grades to make significant improvements in a relatively short period of time. The good learning habits developed during this process will benefit him greatly in the future.

The tutor analyzes student's assessment reports and creates a personalized learning path by assigning individualized learning materials and homework for the student accordingly. The tutor also monitors student's progress, reviews assignments, and answers questions during in-person sessions.
Keeping students adequately challenged is a key to motivated learning. There is no one-size-fits-all scenario for the academic success of a student. Individualized materials encourage students to succeed, as they feel both rewarded and challenged by their work.
The grade level of learning materials is primarily decided by the initial assessment result. A student may not always study in the same grade level as his/her school grade in order to best match their current academic performance level.
Each week a member student is required to attend one tutoring session with his/her tutor. Each session is two hours long.
A member student is expected to work on his/her assigned home for about 30 minutes a day, four days a week. That is 2.0 to 2.5 hours of homework per week.
Academic English and Math are equally essential skills for student’s future success both academically and professionally. However, we appreciate that some students may need more concentration on one subject. Parents and students have the freedom to choose what subjects to work on, and how time is allocated to different subjects during in-person tutoring sessions.
we are keeping our membership package simple by offering just one package: 12 in-person tutoring sessions for 24 hours. Normally students finish 12 sessions of tutoring in 3 months. And students can renew another 12 sessions as they wish.
If you purchased Adaptive Assessment and paid for that before you enrolled in this Advanced Learner's Club, please let us know at enrollment. We will be happy to credit the assessment cost to your membership fee.
What To Expect as A Club Member?
To enroll as a member of the English and Math Advanced Learner's Club, a student needs to register for a package of twelve (12) tutoring sessions, with each tutoring session consisting of two (2) hours. This totals to twenty-four (24) tutoring hours. Each week, member students will attend in-person tutoring sessions at the center with their teacher to review their learning in areas of English reading, English writing, and mathematics. After the in-person sessions, students will be given personalized assignments to complete at home for the following week. These assignments could be either online work or in paper format.
There are three(3) major tasks to expect as a member of the English and Math Advanced Learner’s Club:
Task 1: Complete Adaptive Assessment
Task 2: Complete weekly learning assignment at home
Task 3: Meet a personal tutor for study review and tutoring on a weekly basis.
We recommend that the membership to be renewed three(3) weeks before the last tutoring session so that a new Adaptive Assessment can be arranged and the report becomes available for preparing a new learning path for the next period.

Even in an academic setting, social contact between students of similar levels can be greatly encouraging. Learning within a group of high-achieving peers gives students the opportunity to discuss, share, and compare their work to stay motivated under the guidance of the teacher.
